About Us

Our roots go back about thirty years, to when Project Reconciliation was begun as an outreach ministry of First Baptist Church in Hamilton.

The minister at that church was Reverend Wayne Soble and we are fortunate today to have Rev. Doctor Soble on our Board of Directors.

With eight prisons in the Kingston area, it was quickly decided that Project Reconciliation could better serve its mandate if it was located in this area. So, the Project took up residence at First Baptist Church at 100 Sydenham Street.

The man who personified “The Project”, to many, was Alan Matthews. His memory lives on in the Alan Matthews Drop-In-Centre, located at First Baptist Church in Kingston, which is open from Monday to Friday, 10:00am to 2:00pm.

In 2006, the Board saw a need to come together under the new name of Kingston Community Chaplaincy, and in 2007 we became a registered Canadian charity.

Today, we are a multi-faith Chaplaincy for the Correctional Services of Canada.
